It consists of a series of tasks which are graded in difficulty. This is a standardized test. Most of the MAC battery sub-tests assume that a patient’s hearing loss has occurred post-lingual, but it can be employed as a means of evaluating the hearing abilities of persons for whom traditional speech materials are too difficult.
The MAC Battery consists of the following subtests: 1) Question/ Statement, 2) Vowels, 3) Spondee Recognition, 4) Noise/ Voice, 5) Accent, 6) CID Everyday Sentences, 7) Initial Consonants, 8) Spondee Same/ Different, 9) SPIN High-Context Sentences, 10) Familiar Sounds, 11) Monosyllabic Words (NU-6, List 1B), 12) Four-Choice Spondee, 13) Final Consonants
